Isabela, Puerto Rico — north shore

A container house on the north shore.

Forty feet of corrugated steel on a green corner lot, with a pergola-covered pine deck and solar on the roof — so when the grid goes down, the lights here don't. Jobos, Shacks and Montones are minutes away. Booked directly with the owner. No platform, no service fee.

The house

Forty feet of steel, on a green corner lot.

It is a shipping container, and it looks like one — which is the whole charm. Inside it is a house: a deck under a pergola, solar on the roof, and three beaches a few minutes north.

The drawing

Open it up and look inside.

Scroll and the roof lifts off, the wall opens, and you are looking down into the rooms. No listing site will show you that.

The shore

Three breaks, three different days.

Isabela's north shore does not have one beach, it has a menu. Which one you want depends on the swell and on who you brought.

Playa Jobos

Drive TK min

The reef break everyone knows. Consistent, crowded, and the food is right there on the point.

Shacks

Drive TK min

Shallow, clear and protected — this is the snorkelling one. Turtles are routine, not a promise.

Montones

Drive TK min

Natural pools behind the rock shelf. The one to bring people who do not surf.

Drive times marked TK await confirmation — they are not invented here.

Booking direct

Every other place here is on a platform. This one isn't.

Isabela's rental market runs almost entirely through the big listing sites. That is convenient for them and expensive for you — the fee sits on your side of the invoice. Booking here goes to the person who owns the house.
